Staying Safe Around Pest Control

2 Things You Can Do To Control Bedbugs While Waiting For An Exterminator

Bedbugs can be a huge problem. They spread very easily, and they can be really hard to get rid of. You might not even realize that you have them until they have had the chance to spread throughout your house. If you have bedbugs or even think that there is the possibility that you might have bedbugs, you need to get an exterminator out to your house as soon as possible. You want to get the bugs under control quickly, hopefully before they spread throughout your house. There are some things that you can do that will help you get the bedbugs under control while you are waiting for the exterminator to get to your house.

Cover Pillows and Mattresses

One thing that you can do is to get mattress and pillow covers that you can put on everything. Make sure that you get ones that are specifically for bedbugs that zip shut, making it harder for bedbugs to get in or out. If you slide everyone's pillows into the covers and all the mattresses and box springs, then you are going to shut the bedbugs away from their main source of sustenance, as well as keep them from being able to spread throughout your house.

Heat It Up

Another thing that you can do is put everything you can into the dryer and run it on a high heat cycle at least once. The high heat will help to kill off the bedbugs. If the item can be washed, you might want to run it through the washer first, on a hot water cycle. The combo of the hot water and the high heat in the dryer can add up to more heat than the bedbugs can survive. If you can run everything possible through the dryer and then seal it up in covers or plain plastic bags until the exterminator can get to your house, then you can help make the exterminator's job much easier in the long run. High heat is one of the things that the exterminator may use to help get rid of the bedbugs.

If you have bedbugs, you need to make sure that you are trying to get them under control or getting rid of them as soon as possible, because you don't want them to spread throughout your house or beyond. Call an exterminator, and do what you can to help control the situation quickly.
